A $20.3 million (AED74.6 million) contract for a 132/11 kilovolt (kV) substation at Warsan 2 has been awarded by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)
The facility is to be connected to the current electricity network, according to state news agency WAM.
” DEWA is working to develop an integrated electricity infrastructure that performs to the highest levels of quality and efficiency,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of DEWA. “This reflects the UAE’s advanced position in the global energy competitiveness indices for ease of access to electricity.”
Al Tayer said the objective of the project was to enhance the current electricity transmission networks to a capacity of 132/11Kv, by connecting substations to increase efficiency and accountability.
“As part of DEWA’s efforts to achieve its vision to become a sustainable innovative world-class utility, and to further develop electricity transmission plans, DEWA continuously expands electricity supplies by developing and expanding its projects, services and facilities,” he said.
“DEWA’s future objectives and plans aim to increase the efficiency and accountability of its infrastructure. This promotes DEWA’s contribution to Dubai’s economic growth and prosperity. DEWA is always keen on improving its electricity and water infrastructure, to meet the increasing demands and improve Dubai’s existing infrastructure.”
