Deal to allow UAE telecom to boost network capacity to 4mn subscribers.
UAE telecom Du has awarded Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) a $225 million contract to help expand its network capacity to four million subscribers, the company said on Tuesday.
Du said NSN is to deploy a radio access solution that will help it improve network quality by offering better signal strength and wider coverage.
NSN will also provide support services to Du, it said.
Du had 2.3 million mobile phone customers as of June 30.
Sorry to sound a very old-fashioned and touch upon stupid ideas like good customer service, integrity, honour, etc etc, but shouldn't Du be rather more worried about providing some visible service its existing couple of hundred thousand customers in its catchment area, e.g. Jumeirah Lake Towers, before getting all excited about a further 4 million? Or should I be hanged now, for even mentioning such absurdity?
