Dubai recently hosted the world’s best gamers in the Intel Extreme Masters Global Challenge at Gitex 2009 with $31,500 prize money. total prize pool of no less than $530,000 makes it one of most lucrative video game tournament series of all time.
The prize pool of $31,500 for the Dubai leg was awarded to the winners of the Counter-Strike 1.6 and QuakeLive tournament. PES CUP
In 2009 Xbox 360, Konami, Pluto Games and Chevrolet joined forces to organise one of the biggest soccer gaming tournament in the Middle East, the First Official Konami Pro Evolution Soccer Cup.
The Konami PES Regional Cup took place in nine major cities across five Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
Each game was played one-on-one on the Xbox 360, with rounds 1 and 2 consisting of 10 minute matches, whereas the Quarter/Semi and final games were played for 30 minutes. The winners from each city won a cash prize, a chance to qualify for the final round in Dubai, and an air ticket and accommodation in Dubai.
