Inside Burj Al Arab new bar Gold On 27
Gold On 27, the Burj Al Arab’s newest lounge bar, is set to open its shiny, gold doors to the public on April 8.

While the hotel is known for its exclusivity, with entrance to the property restricted to reservations and hotel guests only, the new spot promises to be more accessible to guests and has created a new app that allows you to make a booking for the bar on the day of your visit. Tables and seating are open and no minimum spend charge is required.

“The Burj has a reputation for being very difficult to get into and for being very exclusive, but we’re trying to breakdown that boundary; we don’t want it to be inaccessible,” the bar’s general manager Paul Bradley told Time Out Dubai. “The dress code will also be more down-to-earth – no fancy suits or top hats.”

Staying true to its name, the spacious venue is kitted out in gold furnishings. The textured walls of the bar shimmer, while the lighting effects create a sophisticated atmosphere, picking out flashes of the bar’s art deco design. The floor-to-ceiling windows show off the Burj’s prime location and offer views across both land and sea.

In keeping with the lounge bar atmosphere, resident DJ Darko De Jan (formerly of Armani/Prive) will play deep, soulful house and lounge tunes every night from 7pm to 1am.

Music aside, progressive mixed drinks are undoubtedly the main event at Gold On 27. Using premium brands and a unique array of ingredients, which include saffron, truffle, goat’s cheese, charcoal and Fois Gras, the bar’s team of mixologists have created an imaginative menu brimming with contemporary twists, all named after local traditions and sayings. Mixed drinks range on average between Dhs100-Dhs140.

“I’ve been lucky enough to redo the pricing for the Burj Al Arab, so our prices are actually lower than the rest of the hotel. None of the drinks are made in 20 minutes, the ingredients are prepared over several days,” explains Bradley.

At the creative end of the selection are blends including Light Sweet Crude (using foie gras and blackened truffle oil), Scent of the Souk (using oud oil, rosemary and spices) and A Ghaaf, a Goat and a Camel (using goat cheese foam).

Dubai residents and visitors will be able to make bookings for Gold On 27 through an app, available on both Android and IOS. The booking is then activated upon arrival at the entrance to the hotel, allowing access to the property and the bar on the 27th floor.
