Indian expats in the UAE looking to travel back home have been hampered by news that national carrier Air India is not planning to offer international passenger flights until June.
A countrywide lockdown, as a result of the current coronavirus crisis, is scheduled to run until May 3, after which it was hoped repatriation flights could be launched.
However, the company announced on Saturday that there would be no international departures before June 1.
“Bookings for select domestic flights for travel from May 4 and for international flights for travel from June 1 onwards are open,” a statement said.
Ticket bookings from June for Air India and Air India Express are now open.
Air India said the situation was being ‘constantly reviewed and updated’.
