Dubai airports and airlines have advised passengers to allow more time for journeys as rain could lead to possible traffic delays.
Due to the weather fluctuations expected on Thursday, May 2, Dubai Airports has advised passengers departing via DXB International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to arrive at the airport well in advance of the flight time to avoid any possible delays due to traffic congestion.
The airport operator said passengers should allocate extra time for check-in procedures, security screening, and boarding.
Dubai Airport travel advisory
Travellers are advised to use smart applications to obtain updates on traffic and alternative routes, and to use the Metro to reach Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 at DXB, if they are able to do so.
The airport operator also stressed the need for travellers to contact the airlines they are traveling on to verify the status of their flight before heading to the airport.
In a weather update posted on social media platform X, Emirates said: “Heavy thunderstorms are forecast in Dubai on May 2. If you’re travelling to @DXB, you may experience road delays.
“We recommend adding extra travel time to reach the airport, and using Dubai Metro where possible”.
Flydubai also advised passengers to allow additional time for journeys to DXB. An airline spokesperson told local media: “Passengers are also advised to update their contact details via the Manage Booking tab and check the flight status on the airline’s website for the latest updates regarding their flight.”
