Heavy rain was reported in several areas of the UAE on Wednesday. Temperatures also reportedly dropped in parts of the nation.
Residents reported hail in Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Al Riyad and Sharjah’s Qatah areas.
The National Centre of Meteorology also reported rain with hail over the Nahil-Sweihan road at 2:42 PM, and moderate rain over Jumeirah at 2:30 PM on Wednesday.
Weather forecasts
Rain is forecast in the coming days until Friday, where the weather will reportedly be stable.
Showers, along with thunder and lightning are forecast in the coming days, including overnight on Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Temperatures are expected to dip to 14ºC on the coast and 3ºC in the mountain regions of UAE.
On Tuesday, the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) warned UAE residents to stay cautious while driving as rains engulf parts of the nation.
In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the NCM warned residents to:
- Avoid driving unless absolutely necessary. If necessary, drive with caution, and remain vigilant and alert to ensure the safety of all road users.
- Turn on low-beam headlights when visibility is reduced.
- Follow weather forecasts via official channels and be ready to comply with instructions issued by relevant authorities.
The NCM also urged the public to only follow up on official reports by the authority and refrain from spreading rumours.
