A labourer died as he jumped from a burning building in Dubai, as around 300 workers were evacuated at the weekend, it was reported.
Dubai Police and Civil Defence confirmed the fire occurred at a tower near Mohammad Bin Zayed and Al Khail Roads in Dubai at around 3:15pm on Saturday, Gulf News reported.
Eyewitnesses said the resident died when he jumped from the fifth floor of the 30 storey building to escape the blaze, media reports said.
Around 300 people were evacuated from the tower, which is nearing completion.
“The labourers were trapped between the 20th and the 30th floor where fire was raging. Fire at that time was gutting about five floors from the 20th floor upward,” an eyewitness was quoted as saying by Gulf News.
