The Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI) in the Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), organised an FDI Aftercare Workshop with the objective of qualifying leaders from the public and private sectors as best-in-class in the field of foreign direct investment.
Part of Dubai FDI’s Capacity and Future Readiness Development Programme, the workshop was led by Carolina Arriagada Peters, the managing director of Cities and Collaboration and founder of fdiCampus.
Peters provided a framework to improve existing foreign direct investment aftercare practices and to develop an outward-looking perspective that embeds investors at the very heart of economic development.
The CEO of Dubai FDI, Fahad Al Gergawi, said: “It is essential to continually update our stakeholders’ skills and insights. The interactive aftercare workshop is an effective platform for FDI professionals, especially after the tough years the world went through.
“At Dubai FDI, we have continued to support existing and potential investors in their journey throughout the pandemic period, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a preferred foreign direct investment destination.”

Carolina Arriagada Peters said: “The foreign direct investment industry is now starting to look after established foreign investors as people look after their cars. Even if it is no longer that shiny, it still needs to be regularly cleaned and serviced in order for it to perform for a long time.
“Foreign investors also need to be looked-after regularly. Aftercare offers a methodology to do so, as well as a roadmap of how to embed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”
Arriagada Peters concluded: “Dubai is ideal to work collaboratively with established investors. It not only has the infrastructure, favorable business climate, and the connectedness investors seek when looking for long-term investment, but it also knows how to spark innovation, foster collaboration, and develop capacity building that global business falls back on in uncertain times.”
