The bodies of the six Indian construction workers killed in Ajman have been extracted from the concrete which caved in on them on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
All the victims are employees of Seidco General Contracting, which was building the 20-storey Laguna Beach Hotel on Ajman’s Corniche Road.
Police named three of the victims as Karan Veer Ram Lubhaya, Jasveer Ram Lubhaya and Pawan Kumar Ashok Kumar, UAE daily Gulf News reported on Wednesday.
The men were killed when excess wet concrete being poured onto the roof of the hotel basement forced the roof to cave in on them.
The accident occurred at about 3:00am on Monday but the rescue operation was hampered by the wet concrete hardening on top of the bodies.
Two bodies were located at about 7:00pm and 11:00pm on Monday with the remaining four retrieved on Tuesday.
Three engineers of Seidco General Contracting have been charged by the public prosecutor of negligence and failure to adhere to safety measures and causing the death of six workers, police said.
The engineers were all at the work site when the accident occurred.
Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi, UAE Supreme Council member and ruler of Ajman, inspected the construction site on Monday and instructed rescue teams to speed up their operation.
