Dubai Healthcare City has responded cagily to rumours claiming the yet-to-be opened University Hospital has won permission to perform organ transplantation procedures.

Dubai Healthcare City has responded cagily to rumours claiming the yet-to-be opened University Hospital has won permission to perform organ transplantation procedures.

Leaked reports alleged the facility would become the first private hospital in the UAE to offer transplantation services. Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi is currently the only authorised hospital.

In a statement released to
Medical Times

, however, DHCC denied the development had an organ bank, but added that a “forthcoming major development project at DHCC plans on offering live organ transplantation services in the near future.”

The company has remained tight-lipped on the subject of ministry approval, and refused to confirm whether plans have been green-lit by officials.
