As many as 400 exhibitors are expected to participate in the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show (WJMES), to be held at the Expo Centre Sharjah next week.
The 50th edition of the show, organised with the support of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), will run from October 5 to 9.
The event is expected to draw participation of leading international brands and companies specialised in designing and manufacturing of watches and goldware, besides several local businesses and a number of Emirati designers.
India, with 61 companies, and Italy with 46 exhibitors will be among the major participating countries this year.
New countries from Latin America and Africa will also take part in the five-day event.
Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI and Expo Centre Sharjah, said Sharjah has grown to become a regional and international hub for the trade and manufacture of gold and jewellery.
“This explains why key players and the most prestigious brands in the field of manufacturing, designing, and trading jewellery and watches on the global stage are keen to participate in the event,” he said.

Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, said this year’s show will feature remarkable activities and brand-new exhibitors from significant global businesses.
The show will be open to visitors on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 13:00 to 22:00, while on Friday from 15:00 to 22:00.
