Major Ahmed Obeid Al Obaidly, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation and Future Foresight, commented: “Our participation in this event is part of Abu Dhabi Police’s strategy to enhance institutional excellence, encourage creativity and innovation, and ensure readiness for the future.

“The smart helmet invented by Abu Dhabi Police staff is a wearable electronic device that helps police personnel to improve their concentration levels. It is also able to analyse brain signals, concentration patterns and use artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to send recommendations to improve concentration levels.

“The device supports the development of training initiatives, increasing productivity and enhances police performance. It provides accurate readings, is easy to operate, and is highly efficient and secure.”

The 48th edition of Geneva International Invention Fair saw more than a thousand inventors participating from 45 countries.

Innovations and international recognitions

Last year, three Abu Dhabi Police employees received IFIA accreditation.

Among the products featured last year was Ali Muhammad Al Masabi’s smart swab to raise and test biological contaminations (blood, seminal and salivary) and a mobile alarm device for fires, toxic and flammable gases, while Lieutenant-Colonel Wafaa Ali Al Tayari showcased his new compound for genetic fingerprinting in the criminal field.

Abdul Rahim Burwais, a civil innovation expert, invented a wearable device that measures the degree of activity which can be used in sports and in cases of some disorders such as hyperactivity disorder and autism.

In Geneva, the Grand Prix, the highest distinction, was awarded to the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, represented by Sébastien Floquet and Aneta Ozieranska, for a food supplement that strengthens bees against external aggressions.

The International Press Prize was awarded to the Swiss company Loghydrogen for the Hydrogen System HTi1, designed to reduce all vehicles’ polluting emissions and fuel consumption.

The IFIA’s Best Invention Award was granted to Prof Thomas Yun-chung Leung, Dr Leo Man-yuen Lee and Prof Alisa Sau-wun SHUM from Hong Kong Polytechnic University for Abarginase, a first-in-class drug for treatment of multiple obesity-related metabolic diseases and Rahaf Alem and Raghad Al Jondi, from Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulaziz University for ‘BDD Laser’.
