Security software vendor McAfee has named Roger King as its executive VP of worldwide sales in what has turned out to be the last major appointment of the George Samenuk and Kevin Weiss reign.
Just over a week after King was unveiled as the new face of McAfee’s global channel team, CEO Samenuk dramatically stepped down as chairman and the board terminated president Weiss’ contract following an investigation over stock options.
It is not clear if King’s role will change once a new CEO is appointed but for now his brief is to deepen and accelerate McAfee’s global channel programme and engagement model, according to the company.
He is well versed in the indirect go-to-market model having previously been boss of corporate reseller Software Spectrum, which was sold to rival Insight earlier this year.
At Software Spectrum — which was then a division of Level 3 Communications — he helped the US-based company grow sales to more than US$3 billion a year.
Prior to that, King held positions at vendors including IBM, Lotus Development and Sterling Software.
McAfee’s current Middle East distributor line-up includes both Mindware and Aptec.
