Sharjah Airport reports 16.7 per cent rise in Q3 2025 passenger numbers to 5.1m, as cargo and sea-air freight volumes record strong growth

Sharjah Airport recorded a strong performance in the third quarter of 2025, handling 5,127,120 passengers, a 16.7 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the airport welcomed 4.39m passengers.

The results reaffirm the airport’s position as one of the UAE’s leading aviation hubs, both locally and internationally, reflecting ongoing recovery and sustained growth in air travel demand.

The number of scheduled and non-scheduled flights also rose sharply, reaching 30,737 aircraft movements, up 10.7 per cent from 27,758 flights during the same period last year.

Sharjah Airport growth

Cargo operations recorded steady expansion, with 48,073 tonnes handled — a 3.9 per cent increase compared to 46,284 tonnes in Q3 2024.

The sea-air freight segment showed particularly strong momentum, jumping 32.8 per cent from 3,236 tonnes to 4,296 tonnes.

Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), said the results demonstrate the airport’s “continued operational growth and its vital role in supporting the aviation sector in line with Sharjah’s long-term development plans.”

He added that sustained investment in infrastructure, capacity expansion, and digital transformation drove the strong performance, enhancing operational efficiency and improving the overall passenger experience.

Sharjah Airport continues to execute its strategic growth plan aimed at expanding destinations, improving cargo and logistics facilities, and integrating innovative digital solutions to strengthen its position as a key regional transport hub.
