UAE traffic authorities have announced a reduced speed limit on a major road.

Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre said the speed limit on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street in Abu Dhabi will be reduced for motorists travelling in both directions, due to roadworks on Al Saada Bridge.

The new speed limit will come into effect from Friday, June 23 and will be in place until the end of December 2023.

New UAE speed limit

The speed limit is being reduced to 80kmph and the ITC has requested drivers strictly follow the designated traffic signs and suggested alternative routes.

A message on official ITC social media channels said: “ITC Abu Dhabi wishes to advise drivers that roadworks are being carried out on the Al Saada Bridge on Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Street.

“With the speed limit reduced to 80kmph in both directions, starting from June 23 until the end of December 2023.”

To help alleviate congestion and ensure everybody’s safety motorists are consider alternative routes, including:

  • Umm Yafina Road
  • Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street
  • Sultan Bin Zayed the First Street
