Four Seasons cultivates new contract

Egypt operation will employ a dedicated farmer in a bid to ‘get fresh’ and tackle poor quality produce.

Four Seasons Hotels Egypt will pen an exclusive contract with a farmer in the country, in a bid to tackle the lack of quality and fresh produce.

Patrice Aira, director of food and beverage at Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh revealed that the hotel group’s four properties in Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh and the soon-to-open Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano, will hire a farmer to solely serve their needs.

“There is an urgent need for a wider variety of fresh vegetables and produce across Egypt, so this farmer will grow what we need, for example certain types of beans,” Aira said.

Aira revealed that the deal is “pretty close to happening, maybe in six months.”

At the company’s Cairo at The First Residence property, general manager Randy Shimabuku said that plans are underway for a 52-seat restaurant located at its pool deck, which will focus on Lebanese and Syrian cuisine and capitalise on its views of the River Nile.

The property is also currently involved in talks to revamp the interior of its all-day, 91-seat Mediterranean restaurant, Seasons.
