Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque closes

Mosque committee says landmark will be closed for non-worship activities until Saturday.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi will be closed for the next three days to mark the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

All non-worship activities have been halted following the tragic death of the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) in a plane crash in Morocco, news agency WAM reported.

The committee managing the tourist landmark in the UAE capital said that the mosque will accept visitors again on Saturday.

It requested from tour operators and tourists to refrain from visiting the mosque during the mourning period.
