For 38-year-old Dubai resident Jyo John Mulloor, all it took was a digital screen and pen to bring snow in the UAE.
The digital artist, who drew his inspiration from a dream, has visualised UAE in four ways – blanketed in snow, lush greenery, a Martian city and even as Pandora (a sci-fi city in James Cameron’s Avatar).
“It is all based on the UAE national flag. If you look closely, white represents snow in Dubai, red represents Dubai in Mars or ‘Emartia’ – which drew inspiration from the UAE Mars Mission – green depicts UAE in the spring, filled with green trees, inspired by the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The colour black drew inspiration from James Cameron’s Avatar,” the Indian expat told Arabian Business.
Mulloor’s vision or “tribute” as he calls it, is aimed at his love for the country. An expat for over a decade, the artist initially put up his versions of the UAE for fun, but little did he expect to garner a fan following on his social media handles.
The digital visualiser, who works at INNOCEAN Worldwide in Dubai, said: “I initially gave up on the project three to four times, when I started on the snow project. However, I kept up with it and finished my first visual in three weeks.”
Mulloor is also an NFT (non-fungible token) artist. His project, ‘Eyeriz’ feature eye irises combined with nature. As for upcoming projects, the artist said, “after the UAE flag day this year, I will launch more NFTs based on the national flag.”
Mulloor added: “People can collect four flag colours. In the future, I also have a plan to launch Emartia in the metaverse. So more NFTs will be launched and these will include varying seasons in Emartia – that’s the master plan.”
