Vertu unveils latest Bentley handset

Luxury mobile phone maker says Vertu Signature for Bentley will go on sale in September

Luxury mobile phone maker Vertu has presented its second handset as part of its five-year partnership with Bentley Motors.

Vertu Signature for Bentley will be on display at a number of key events across the summer before its official launch on September 18, a statement said.

Launched in 2002, Vertu said its voice centric Signature has maintained a “huge appeal which has ensured its significant share of sales alongside Vertu’s contemporary smartphones”.

Signature Bentley is inspired by the Bentley Mulsanne Speed, the pinnacle product from Bentley, world renowned for its combination of performance, luxury and style.

The carbon fibre pillow on the Signature shares similar carbon weave design pattern as on the Mulsanne Speed, the polished stainless steel sides offer a tactile knurled finish that is reminiscent of Bentley control knobs and the Beluga Black calf leather that encases the handset is sourced from the same tannery used by the automotive company, as is the phone case which is also embellished with a Bentley Flying B Titanium emblem.

Vertu Signature for Bentley can also be customised. Using the Vertu Made to Order online configurator, customers can match their phone and case to their Bentley car leather and stitching or create something of their own design from 2,300 possible combinations.

Vertu began working on a luxury mobile phone concept as early as 1998 and four years later the company shipped its first product, the Signature, from its headquarters in Hampshire, England.

Today, Vertu has a range of phones available: Vertu Signature, Vertu Signature Touch and Vertu Aster.
