Synergy Professional Services and MasterIT of Jordan have announced a collaboration project to set up a Cisco training centre in the Kingdom. The project, which was launched in March, is called MasterIT Synergy and offers a wide range of certifications to cater to the requirements of the growing Jordanian market.Mus’ab Mheidat, general manager of MasterIT Synergy outlined the options that are available to candidates. “A variety of both essential and advanced Internet and networking courses are offered. They will focus on different elements of the skills shortages that the region suffers from. The programme starts from the entry level Cisco Certified Network Associates certificate (CCNA) up to the highly acclaimed Cisco Advanced Certification Programmes,” he said. The aim of MasterIT Synergy is to produce people who have the skills to implement a networking solution in all stages from specifying it, to supporting it once it is up and running. The company aims to capitalise on the demand for qualified professionals at present and believes that the market for training will continue to be strong for some time. It quotes figures from IDC that predict the skills shortage in the Middle East to continue until 2004, with Jordan having a 36% shortfall in networking professionals by that time.“We saw a great opportunity in Jordan for expansion due to its technologically savvy community, the public passion for excellence and governmental incentives to facilitate foreign investment,” said Melad Ghabrial, president and CEO of Synergy. “Through the investment made in MasterIT Synergy, we aim to play a key role in equipping Jordan with the skills and expertise it needs to claim a leading position in the global ICT sector. Over the years, Jordan has been an incubator for talent and skills that have played a major role in the regions’ ICT development,” he added.
