Uber talks self-driving cars tech at Dubai World Congress

Noah Zych, chief of staff of Uber Advanced Technologies Group attended the Dubai World Congress for self-driving transport held at the Dubai World Trade Centre recently.

Uber ATG is currently working on developing self-driving technologies for their vehicles across the globe and are working with policy makers to chalk a plan to deploy it safely in the coming years.

“Self-driving is a part of Uber’s overall approach to improving mobility. When we put it (our self-driving vehicles) on the road, we are not testing to see if it works, we are proving that it does work”, he said.

After the fatal accident by an autonomous Uber vehicle in Arizona last year, they have heavily shifted their focus to safety and accuracy in operations.

“We published our safety case framework that covbers a breadth of issues that need to be addressed and validated. We are building out the testing regime, proof of performance data sharing and sharing our internal processes to put this technolo0gy on the road and to collaborate with our government regulators”, he explained.
