An unruly passenger had to be restrained on an Emirates flight to Chicago, the airline said over the weekend.
According to an Emirates spokesperson, a passenger “had to be restrained by cabin crew due to unruly behavior” on flight EK235 from Dubai to Chicago on January 23.
“The passenger was handed over to the authorities on arriving in Chicago,” the spokesperson added. “The safety of our passengers and crew is of the utmost importance and will not be compromised.”
Local media in Chicago identified the passenger as a 72-year old Nigerian passenger. According to his family, he was flying for the first time, and the incident was the result of a misunderstanding over his seat.
The American reports also noted that the passenger was briefly hospitalised with injuries to his head and wrists, with no criminal charges stemming from the incident.
