The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and US Secretary of Treasury met in the UAE capital Sunday to discuss joint efforts to disrupt terrorism financing.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi received Steven Mnuchin, US Secretary of the Treasury, to discuss joint efforts to dry up sources of terrorism financing and address regional and global issues of mutual concern.
The talks come on the heels of US and GCC slapped sanctions on leaders, financiers, and facilitators of ISIL in Yemen and Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula last week.
The designations were outlined by Mnuchin during his speech to an investment conference last week in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
The US Treasurer’s UAE visit is part of a Middle East tour including Qatar and Jerusalem this week.
During the meeting, at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi the Crown Prince and the US Secretary of Treasury tackled a variety of economic issues with emphasis on investment and trade.
Also present at the talks were UAE officials including National Security Adviser; Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dr Anwar Gargash, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
From the US delegation the Ambassador of the United States to the UAE, Barbara Leaf also attended the meeting.
