UAE Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi will make history by being the first Arab to walk in space later this month.
Inspirational Al Neyadi and his Crew-6 teammates docked with the International Space Station (ISS) in March following a 24-hour flight on board the SpaceX Dragon Endeavor spacecraft.
He will remain at the ISS for six months and on April 28 will take a giant leap and step outside the space station for a historic spacewalk.

The announcement was made by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
In a post on social media, Sheikh Hamdan said: “Inspired by Zayed’s ambitions, today our ambassador to space @Astro_Alneyadi is preparing for the first spacewalk by an Arab astronaut on 28 April. This will make the UAE the 10th country to undertake Extravehicular Activity (EVA) on the @Space_Station.”
Before the UAE’s spacewalk, scheduled for April 28, only nine other countries have taken a spacewalk at the ISS. They are:
- USA
- Russia
- Canada
- France
- Japan
- Germany
- Sweden
- Italy
- UK
In a separate post on Twitter Sheikh Hamdan wished Sultan Al Neyadi luck for the historic achievement.
