Small businesses are the lifeblood of economies around the world, a situation that is no different in the UAE.

The startup sector in the UAE has been on a growth spurt in recent years, with several huge buyouts, such as Uber’s $3.1 billion purchase of ride-sharing app Careem in 2019, bringing more global attention to the country’s burgeoning entrepreneurship scene.

Joining AB Talks, Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the UAE Minister of State for Entrepreneurship and SMEs, discusses how the UAE is now seeking to supercharge its startups and help nurture the principles of entrepreneurism and business risk-taking in a bid to help power the engine of the UAE’s future growth.
