Construction Week presents the world’s largest malls by gross leasable area
Golden Resources Shopping Mall in Beijing. Gross leasable area (557,419 square metres). In English, the mall has earned the nickname Great Mall of China.
SM City North EDSA in Philippines, which has a gross leasable area of 482,878 square metres). It is the largest shopping mall in Southeast Asia.
1 Utama Shopping Centre in Malaysia. Gross leasable area (465,000 square metres).
Fars Shopping Complex in Shiraz, Iran. Gross leasable area (450,000 square metres). Construction of the mall started in 2006 and was completed in 2011.
CentralWorld mall in Bangkok. Gross leasable area (429,500 square metres).

Sunway Pyramid in Bandar Sunway, Malaysia. Gross leasable area (396,000 square metres). One of the mall’s most easily recognised designs is the Egyptian-inspired Pyramid with a lion ‘standing guard’ at the entrance.
Dubai Mall. The world’s largest mall based on total area. However, it is currently only the 13th-biggest mall by leasable area – at 350,000 square foot. Dubai Mall is part of the $20 billion Downtown Burj Dubai development, which is also being built by Emaar Properties. Dutco Balfour Beatty is to build a new fashion avenue between the existing mall and the Burj Khalifa, which will expand its capacity to over 100 million annual visitors.
