The UAE government has announced the list of planned public holidays for 2015.
The dates are an indication of when they are likely to fall, and may vary depending on local moon sightings.
“The official reference to determine Islamic occasions, such as the beginning of Ramadan or Haj, is the Hijri Calendar. It is based on the phases of the moon. Hence, the exact dates of Islamic events vary from one Gregorian year to another as they depend on the local sightings of the moon,” the government statement said.
Federal ministries, public departments and institutions are closed during the public holidays listed below (number of holidays in brackets).

Israa & Miaraj Night* – 16 May 2015 (1)
Ramadan expected to begin* – 18 Jun 2015 (1)

Arafat Day* – 22 Sept 2015 (1)
