The UAE on Thursday announced details of the 40th National Day and Islamic New Year holidays for employees in the public sector.
Ministries, public institutions and government departments will close on Thursday, Dec 1 until Sunday, Dec 4, a circular issued by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources said.
The holiday to mark the new Hijri year will be moved to the Thursday, as it coincides with the National Day holiday from Dec 2 to 3, the authority was quoted as saying by state news agency WAM.
No details of holiday dates for employees in the private sector were given.
Staff last year received paid holiday to mark National Day and the Islamic New Year, which fell on a Thursday and Saturday respectively.
