Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority announced on Wednesday that three more stations will open on the Red Line this weekend.

GGICO station in Al Garhoud, World Trade Center station, and Noor Islamic Bank station in Al Quoz, will open on Saturday, according to a statement.

Mattar Al Tayer, RTA chairman, said the stations were in “busy locations with very high population density” and will prove “very popular”.

The remaining eight stations on the Red Line will be opened throughout the rest of this year, he said.

Twenty trains will be operated, at six minute intervals during peak times, and 15 trains, at eight minute intervals during off-peak hours, the statement said.

Al Tayer said: “The Public Transport Agency has trained bus drivers on the new bus routes to feed the metro stations to be opened, and 14 feeder buses have been deployed to link the metro stations with the neighbourhoods.”

Feeder buses will run every 13-20 minutes, he added.
