Dubai-based Almal Real Estate Development has officially commenced construction on its ambitious $280 million luxury development, The Unexpected Al Marjan Island Hotel and Residences, in Ras Al Khaimah.

The groundbreaking ceremony marks a significant milestone for the company’s flagship project on Al Marjan Island.

Set to open in 2026, the development will comprise two properties: The Unexpected Al Marjan Island Hotel and The Unexpected Al Marjan Residencies. The project will feature a total of 422 hotel and residential units, offering panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and the nearby Wynn resort.

The development’s design, is inspired by the concept of cymatics with amenities including an infinity rooftop pool, a beach club, a spa and wellness centre, and five dining areas offering a mix of authentic and international cuisine.

Almal Real Estate Development has partnered with Palladium Hotel Group to oversee the management of both properties under The Unexpected Hotels and Residences brand. Additionally, the Design & Architecture Bureau (DAR), a prominent UAE architectural firm, has been appointed as the lead design consultant for the project.

This new venture is expected to have a significant impact on Ras Al Khaimah’s hospitality sector, creating job opportunities and stimulating economic growth in the region.
