Careem Food has reintroduced its ‘Dirhams for Delays’ campaign in Dubai, running from January 15 to March 10, 2024.
The mobile food delivery service has announced that it will reimburse customers AED1 for every minute their order is delayed.
“This campaign is about being very accurate with the delivery times we share with our customers, not about excessive speed. We are confident that our delivery prediction and tracking technology is the best in the market and we want to show our customers that they can rely on us to eat on time, every time,” Jaskaran Singh, Vice President of Product Management at Careem said.
“The safety and well-being of our Captains is a priority for us. They cannot see estimated time of arrival times for orders and will not bear responsibility for any late deliveries. This is really just about us being so confident in the efficiency of our service, and we are willing to bet on it,” Singh added.
The estimated time of arrival accuracy is optimised by assigning delivery Captains based on their proximity to the restaurant and delivery location, as well as working closely with restaurants to dispatch orders promptly.
Only 1 out of 20 orders were delivered past the estimated time of arrival in 2022 and 2023. It should be noted that the delivery Captains will not be held responsible for late deliveries, as they are not provided with estimated time of arrival information for orders.

Careem is focused on the safety and well-being of its Captains and encourages safe driving through bonuses.
Each week, 20 Captains will be rewarded with monetary incentives for adhering to road safety measures.
