Dubai Airports says it has no plans to follow Saudi Arabia and create expat-only immigration queues at its airports.
A Saudi Arabia Passport Department official said last week the kingdom was planning to open immigration counters for foreign residents to help speed up the arrivals process for an estimated 10 million expats.
Immigration processes are known to hold up arriving passengers at Dubai International Airport, but senior vice president operations Chris Garton told Arabian Business it has no plans to follow plans in the kingdom
and adopt expat-only queues.
“Together with Dubai Immigration the airports provide UAE residents with a range of immigration options including e-gates and smart gates, which allow registered passengers to quickly enter or exit the country without having to wait in a queue,” Garton said.
The e-gate and smart gates both require passengers to be registered and pay a fee of about AED200 ($54.49).
