Dnata, a leading air and travel services provider owned by Emirates Group, has won a multi-year contract with Bonza, the country’s newest airline, to support its operations and services.

As part of its services, dnata will deliver the airline’s on-demand 100 percent Australian menu – which has become one of the USPs of the airline, which was launched on 31 January this year.

Retail experts of dnata have worked in partnership with Bonza to select and develop a broad range of Australian-made products. These include quality meals, beverages, and snacking items, helping the airline provide a fresh approach to the onboard experience and maximise ancillary revenue.

A new facility near Bonza’s base at Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY) will help dnata Catering support the airline’s operations. The facility is the first of its kind for the airport.

With the new catering centre, dnata Catering now operates 15 facilities with a team of over 3,000 professionals in providing tailor-made in-flight catering and retail services to over 40 airlines in Australia.

Carly Povey, Chief Commercial Officer at Bonza, said: “dnata has played a key role in delivering the world’s first onboard menu entirely sourced from its home country, served on demand via the Fly Bonza app and delivered directly to customer’s seats.

“The creation and delivery of our all-Aussie menu is no mean feat and has resulted in the first-ever catering facility at Bonza’s backyard – Sunshine Coast Airport. We look forward to growing our onboard menu to take more great Aussie food and drink products to new heights.”

Bonza’s all-Aussie food and drinks menu features over 40 products including many aviation firsts like non-alcoholic beer, banana bread waffles and a snag in a bag.

Hiranjan Aloysius, Chief Executive Officer of dnata Catering Australia, added: “We are immensely proud to have been selected as the in-flight retail partner of Bonza. Our innovative solutions, combined with our deep understanding of passenger needs, will ensure a memorable and unique in-flight experience, helping the airline deliver on its ambitious growth plans.”

Bonza promises to offer “travel for the many, not the few”. It will connect 27 routes to 17 destinations initially and flight deals began from AU$49 to AU$79 one-way. It operates four Boeing 737 Max from Sunshine Coast and Melbourne, its second base.
