Swarovski gets a new home

Art is on the move as the valuable Swarovski Elements crystal is relocated to the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Swarovski Elements has been moved to a new prestigious location – the Grosvenor House Hotel, Dubai. This unique and valuable piece of art, a falcon encrusted with 95,000 Swarovski crystal elements, will be displayed in the Lobby Lounge until its auction in May so that members of the public can view this one-off design.

Finding the right location for this exquisite piece has been very important as the falcon is so valuable and therefore, unlike other pieces in the public art project, it cannot be displayed outside.

The artist who created The Foresight Falcon is International award winning jewellery designer, Priya Chellani. It took Chellani over three months to apply over 95,000 Swarovski crystal elements by hand.

The piece was designed in partnership with Foresight, a Dubai-based charity working towards a cure for blindness caused by retinal diseases.

“I have loved being involved in this artistically exciting and worthwhile project,” said Chellani. “Swarovski crystal elements are proven to shine brighter than diamonds which meant that Katy, Foresight’s chairwoman, could get a good impression of what the falcon looks like, even though she has tunnel and cloudy vision.”
