Dubai based Al Futtaim Group Real Estate has struck a deal with British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to open his first international restaurant in Dubai, the developer behind Festival City has confirmed.

Jamie’s Italian, a 290 seater restaurant, is scheduled to open in late November at the Festival Centre Canal Walk in Dubai Festival City.

The celebrity chef already has fifteen outlets in the UK and this will be the first international Jamie’s Italian restaurant since the first outlet opened in Oxford in May 2008.

Philip Evans, director of commercial and retail leasing at Al Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE) said: “We are pleased to announce another first for Dubai and UAE, in opening Jamie’s Italian which further enriches our culinary offerings. The restaurant will be located at Festival Centre’s Marina Pavilion.”

Faisal Jawad, chairman of Jawad Business Group, the master franchisee for the GCC, said the Festival City outlet would be the first of many in the Middle East as it plans to “develop many restaurants over the next several years in the region.”

Oliver’s arrival in Dubai follows hot on the heels of Gordon Ramsay, Gary Rhodes and Marco Pierre White, who have also successful launched branded restaurants in the emirate.
