Abu Dhabi wealth fund ADQ’s chief executive officer and managing director, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi, and a board member at International Holding Co, Sofia Abdellatif Lasky, will join real estate giant Aldar Properties’ board of directors, according to a statement shared with the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).
Shareholders of Abu Dhabi’s real-estate developer have approved the appointment of ADQ’s Mohamed Alsuwaidi and IHC’s Sofia Lasky to the seven-member board.
In addition to his positions at ADQ, Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi holds the positions of
chairman of both the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and the position of vice-chairman of Abu Dhabi Airports (ADAC).
He is a member of the board of directors at ADNOC Distribution, Abu Dhabi Pension Fund, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Louis
Dreyfus Company (LDC), Aldahra Holding, and Lulu Group International.
Before joining ADQ, Mohamed Alsuwaidi led the Metals and Mining division for Mubadala
Investment Company, where he worked in investment management across a wide range of sectors including real estate, hospitality, infrastructure, utilities, technology, agriculture, and metals and mining.
Prior to that, Alsuwaidi held several board positions, including at the Suyadi CPC plant in China, Guinea Alumina Corporation in Guinea, Sociedad Minera de Santander Gold Mine in Colombia, Minas de Aguas Teñidas Copper Mine in Spain, Muharaq STP in Bahrain, and the Mubadala Reinsurance and Almanhal Development Company.

Alsuwaidi also gained experience in retail banking and finance from the Union National Bank, Abu Dhabi Ship Building and General Secretariat of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Sofia Abdellatif Lasky is already on the boards of IHC and Alpha Dhabi Holding, two of the biggest listed companies in the UAE.
In 2021, the Securities and Commodities Authority mandated that UAE-listed companies must have at least one female director on their boards.
Sofia Lasky has been with IHC since April 2020, and brings considerable experience in asset
management, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, portfolio management, alternative investments, funds, valuation, financing, capital markets, and corporate structuring through her 16-year tenure at Royal Group.

She has overseen the acquisition of numerous companies in a variety of core industries, including real estate, contracting, food processing, preventive healthcare, and capital investments.
Sofia has also served as a Board Member of Macquarie Capital Middle East LLC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Technology from the United Kingdom.
