Qatar announces anti-corruption award named after Emir

Award will be presented annually under three categories: scientific research, media work, and innovation in the fight against corruption

Qatar has announced a new international award for anti-corruption, which will named after the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Qatar’s Attorney General, Dr Ali bin Fetais al-Marri, announced the award at the general assembly of the International Association of Anti-Corruption, held in St Petersburg, Russia, according to Qatar News Agency.

Dr Al Marri, who is also UN special advocate for stolen asset recovery, said the award will be presented annually, and will be distributed under three categories: scientific research, media work and innovation in the fight against corruption.

Dr Al Marri said the award will recognise the efforts made by those in the fight against corruption at the international level.
