During the course of his 35-year career, Martin Yates, Senior Government Technology Advisor of Presight, has made significant contributions to sectors including public safety, smart cities, financial services, and oil and gas. One constant driving force is his passion for leveraging technology to advance business, socio-economic, and national interests.
“My journey into the technology field was fueled by a deep-seated belief in its transformative power to drive positive change on both a societal and individual level. I have always been captivated by the endless possibilities presented by technology, and its potential to reshape the way we live, work, and interact with the world around us,” said Yates. “My motivation to pursue a career in technology stems from a combination of fascination with its potential, a desire to contribute to meaningful progress, and a passion for continual growth and learning.”
Before coming to the UAE in 2022, Yates served as the Global Chief Technology Officer for Smart Cities at Dell Technologies for eleven years. In this role, he led consulting teams in developing strategies and solutions for smart city and AI initiatives, assisting government bodies in adopting cutting-edge technologies to improve service delivery to citizens.
Yates decided to join Presight after recognising the opportunity to leverage his global experience in smart cities, to provide strategic insights to governments worldwide and support their AI and technology planning and implementation.
At Presight, Yates’ role involves championing the use of advanced technology and Generative AI (GenAI) solutions within the government domain, to ensure rapid and effective transformation, while prioritising public safety and delivering critical citizen benefits.
He will also support customers in developing effective visions and strategies to enhance their agility in a fast-changing AI and technology landscape, and areas like cloud, IoT, and supercomputing.
Presight is positioned to enable the adoption of GenAI across smart cities and smart government, driving international and domestic business and socio-economic growth, and Yates is particularly excited about the future, saying:
