Qatar will launch a satellite television channel to mark its national day, on December 18, daily newspaper the Gulf Times reported on Thursday.The channel, which is called Al Dawha, is set to broadcast interviews with various public figures and officials talking about their reflections on the country’s national day.
The annual celebration commemorates the day that the state’s founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, assumed power in 1878.
The new channel will also feature programmes highlighting Qatar’s rapid progress over the past few years, as well as documentaries on the country’s history and culture.
