ComGuard has signed up with IT@work Trusted Solutions to become a reseller and systems integrator for Argus Systems Group’s PitBull LX. Through the deal, ComGuard will deliver and support PitBull LX for enterprises across the region. “With the growth in internet usage, connectivity and data sharing, the need to ensure greater levels of security of existing operating systems is moving up the agenda of enterprise CEOs and CIOs in the region. With the ComGuard/PitBull LX offering, we will be providing these institutions with the most comprehensive approach to enterprise security available and a failsafe solution against internal and external attacks. This technology is already at work in a number of global financial institutions including Credit Suisse, Union Bank of Switzerland, Chase Manhattan Bank and ABN AMRO Bank,” says ComGuard’s marketing director, Daniel Nufer. The PitBull security application is designed to stop attacks from both outside and inside an organisation. The system delivers security within the operating systems that control the most sensitive servers in the IT infrastructure. Last year, PitBull was featured in eWeek magazine’s Open Hack III contest, where it withstood more than 5.4 million hack attempts without a single penetration. This was the first OpenHack event where all attempts were successfully thwarted. “Everyday we read about new viruses that, when successfully exploited, can give attackers access to mission critical servers and a launch pad to attack the most critical data of the enterprise. Yet, it is startling how many enterprises operate under the misconception that the basic protection mechanisms provided in mainstream operating systems are adequate. The fact is that if an external or internal attacker gains control of the operating system, all traditional security mechanisms are totally ineffective. The ComGuard/Argus PitBull solution hardens the operating system and provides a level of security beyond that offered by firewalls and intrusion detection Systems, thus removing enterprise vulnerability to attack,” said Nufer.IT@work’s Theo Musallam, adds that “we are delighted to have such a trusted, reliable and experienced partner as ComGuard representing our security solution in the Middle East. Their local market knowledge and existing infrastructure combined with their proven consulting, technical and support capabilities made them the ideal partner for us to support PitBull in the region.”
