EPSON Middle East has introduced two new scanners, the Perfection 1670 and Perfection 1670 Photo, which it is pitching at the region’s SOHO market. Both devices feature a Charged Coupled Device (CCD) sensor, which scans images at 1600dpi, and also USB 2.0 high-speed connection. Also included is a brighter internal lamp, which EPSON claims allows both scanners to scans up to four times faster than previous models. The Perfection 1670 Photo includes an integrated 35mm Transparency Unit (TPU) that allows users to scan positive and negative filmstrips as well as standard photographs.”The launch of EPSON’s Perfection 1670 and Perfection 1670 Photo demonstrate our commitment to home and small office users by providing cutting edge solutions at competitive prices,” said Khalil El-Dalu, general manager, EPSON Middle East. The Perfection 1670 and 1670 Photo include new driver software, EPSON Scan, which works as both driver software that sends image data to TWAIN compliant applications such as Adobe Photoshop, and as a stand-alone application that saves images from data to file.EPSON Scan features image editing tools, such as colour restoration of faded or discoloured photographs. An additional feature of the Perfection 1670 Photo software is dust removal technology. The scanner can detect ‘dust noise’ during scanning and the EPSON Scan software removes the noise by replacing it with neighbouring pixels producing outstanding results.
