Qatar Airways has teamed up with German rail operator, Deutsche Bahn to offer passengers combined fly & rail tickets. The deal allows passengers to travel from Doha to Munich or Frankfurt with Qatar Airways, and then to get onto a train traveling to any German train station using just one ticket. The same principle applies on the return trip, as well.
“Together with Deutsche Bahn Qatar Airways will now be able to offer its passengers access not only to Frankfurt and Munich Airport, but to 14 further airports all over Germany. Passengers can book connections to other cities’ airports such as Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Dresden, Duesseldorf, Hanover, and even Basel in Switzerland, when they buy their ticket to Germany with Qatar Airways,” explains Qatar Airways’ CEO, Akbar Al Baker.
“In addition to offering connections to more cities which have airports this deal also gives passengers a chance to have rail connections to some 6,000 railway stations in Germany, covering a network of some 40,000 kilometres of rail track,” he adds.
Because of German’s excellent rail network, travellers may will find it quicker and easier to travel by train to their final destination than catching another flight. Both Munich and Frankfurt Airports have their own stations, and there are regular train services to a host of cities.
“Having one ticket for both air- and rail-travel makes the paperwork easy and convenient for the passenger, and travelling with both Qatar Airways and Deutsche Bahn, will ensure excellent service, reliability, and comfort throughout the entire journey,” says Al Baker.
“Fly & Rail is a realistic alternative to domestic flights, as the number of destinations accessible on the rail network far exceeds the number of airports in Germany, and chances are that the Deutsche Bahn can get you a lot closer to your chosen destination than a domestic flight could,” he adds.
