A new range of notebooks from Fujitsu Siemens Computers has hit the Gulf market. The new Lifebook S notebook is one of the lightest notebooks at 1.71 kg and has more security features. “The 13.3” Lifebook S-5582 has been specially designed for those executives on the move who are looking for an ultra-portable notebook but do not want a tiny keyboard and numerous external drives,” said Jacquie Carson, sales and marketing director, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “It is a sensibly sized machine – small and light enough to be easily stowed away and carried, but wide enough to preserve the ergonomics of an A4 portable.”Lifebook S-5582 incorporates the Intel mobile Pentium III 800 MHz processor-M. Security has been addressed in this series. The company claims that data losses can be prevented by a shock protected hard drive in addition to an integrated SmartCard reader, which offers access protection and roaming functionality. Other security features include a standard security panel that boots the system only after the correct PIN code has been entered. The notebook also comes with intelligent mobile manageability tools such as DeskAlert, which detects hardware failures or changes by constant monitoring of the notebook, enabling repairs to be discovered and completed before any damage occurs.
