Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, announced today that it has made a significant move into the Abu Dhabi market with the addition of royal aviation group Amiri Flight to its community of members. As part of its e-government strategy, Amiri Flight will utilise the Tejari marketplace to procure goods and services ranging from food and beverages to uniforms and technology equipment for its organisation, and integrate its relationship with more than 2000 suppliers. The company added that after gauging the return on investment (ROI) delivered by Tejari membership, the aviation group may then source airline spare parts and other industry-specific items via the marketplace. “We are delighted to be one of the first members of Abu Dhabi’s public sector to join Tejari, as Amiri Flight believes that e-government should be a UAE-wide initiative. Our current base of suppliers is spread throughout the Emirates and the Middle East as a whole. We welcome the opportunity to build new trading partnerships both regionally and internationally through the Tejari marketplace,” says Jim Cole, CEO of Amiri Flight. The first phase of Amiri Flight’s Tejari membership will be migrating as many of its supplier relationships online, and sourcing competitive bids for the products it require. The aviation group will later consider integrating its in-house accounting applications with the Tejari marketplace to further automate the buying process. “Since the size and scope of our procurement operations runs into the thousands – both in terms of the number of suppliers we work with and the goods we’re buying – Amiri Flight believes that we can significantly streamline our buying process and reduce the paperwork and administrative efforts involved,” says Ali Al Naqbi, Amiri Flight’s division manager, administration and finance.”Amiri Flight has outlined an aggressive plan to reduce its operational costs and become a more agile and efficient organization, and Tejari anticipates playing a critical role in that strategy. Aviation is a sector with a vast range of procurement needs, and Amiri Flight and its many related suppliers are a welcome addition to the Tejari marketplace,” says Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, CEO, Tejari.
