UAE residents will now be able to send money transfers free of charge to 200 countries through eWallet in partnership with MoneyGram International.
Customers of eWallet, which was launched by Digital Financial Services, a joint venture between Etisalat and Noor Bank, can make international money transfers at competitive rates to over 350,000 locations consisting of banks, over-the-counter agents, and international mobile wallet operators.
The offer, which is for a limited period only, allows consumers to send funds either directly to a recipient’s bank account or to a mobile wallet depending on the destination.
“We understand that in light of the current global situation, people are increasingly choosing to send money digitally from the comfort and safety of their homes. As people work to support their family and loved ones across the globe, we aim to enable them to safely and instantly remit money to over 200 countries and territories worldwide,” said eWallet chairman Ahmed Al Awadi. The digital payment service is regulated and licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE and allows for flexible payment solutions through a mobile app that does not require a bank account, credit or debit card. Customers only need a valid Emirates ID and a working UAE mobile number to register for an eWallet account.
It then allows users to top-up their wallet balance and send and receive money between mobile phones, transfer to own or third-party bank accounts, and do merchant payments, bill payments, and mobile recharges.
Users can also deposit and withdraw cash from their wallets by visiting the nearest location as guided in the app.
