Dubai Police has announced plans to open the Middle East’s first floating Smart Police Station (SPS) by the end of 2026.

The station forms part of strategic projects worth AED2 billion, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The floating station will operate 24/7 without human intervention, offering 27 primary services and 33 additional services in six languages. These include filing criminal and traffic reports, returning lost items, and processing certificate and permit requests.

“Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Al Tamimi, Director of Assets and Facilities Department at Dubai Police, said the floating SPS will be ready by the end of 2026, to offer world-class, advanced services at sea with a design meeting the needs of yacht and boat owners and water sports lovers. This will ensure the happiness of the community, as well as a fast and easy access to the police services, which comes in the line with ‘Dubai the World’s Smartest and Happiest City’ initiative,” according to a statement by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The project aims to reduce visitor numbers at conventional service centres through the use of artificial intelligence and robotics.

The station’s design considers the requirements of maritime vessels to facilitate quick boarding and disembarking.

The floating SPS represents the fourth edition of Dubai Police Smart Police Stations, following the establishment of Smart Police Stations (SPS), Drive-Thru police stations, and Walk-in police stations across the emirate.

Dubai Police stated the initiative aligns with their objective to “enhancing the sense of security and security among community members and raising the quality of life as well as contributing to making Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.”
