Residents of Ras Al Khaimah will get a 50 percent discount on fines for three days starting March 20. The fines have been slashed in celebration of International Happiness Day.
Announced by the Ras Al Khaimah Public Service Department (RAKPSD), fine discounts can be applied on multiple categories including environmental violations such as littering, smoking in non-smoking areas and more.
Last month, it was announced that starting April 1, Sharjah motorists can get a discount of up to 50 percent if they pay traffic fines early.
In an update following the announcement, Muhammad Alai, director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police said that traffic fines will be slashed by half and all impounds and black points for violations before March 31, 2023, will be removed completely.
Motorists in Sharjah who wait more than a year to pay traffic fines will be subject to the full sum, without any discount applied.
