Social media star Amy Roko has called on companies to give women at least 3 days “menstrual leave” each month.
Roko – who is working as Acting Editor in Chief of Arabian Business – said the changes should be considered as part of a wider International Women’s Day agenda.
“This is a subject nobody seems to want to talk about but it affects every woman. I can’t think of a more positive way to recognise the challenges women face in the workplace. This should be given as days off on top of the standard leave entitlement.”
Roko was speaking just weeks after Spain became the first European country to officially change the law, forcing companies to provide three days of menstrual leave.
“What Spain has done is a game changer, I just hope other countries will now also change their game,” said Roko.
