Five expats sentenced to death for killing their boss

Workers were sentenced in absentia by a Doha court

Five Asian expats were sentenced to death by firing squad by a Doha Court over killing their employer, according to Arabic daily Arrayah.

The defendants were sentenced in absentia after the court heard details of how the victim, a construction contractor, failed to come home one night in January 2014. His wife reported his disappearance to the man’s brother, who subsequently reported it to the police.

When the brother went to the construction site, he found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

Police investigations revealed the five defendants – four Bangladeshi and one Nepalese – arrived to work on the day of the man’s murder carrying heavy iron hammers and locked their fellow workers inside a bathroom.

The workers told police that the victim was then heard to scream in agony as the five carried out their deadly assault, but were too scared to report the incident to police.

The defendants stole the man’s e-government card and used it to secure exit permits for themselves, before leaving Qatar immediately, the daily added.
